William R. Nunery, M.D., FACS |
Dr. Nunery specializes in surgical procedures dealing with the face and eyes. Dr. Nunery is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, and is a member and past President of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He has over 25 years of surgical experience, and is committed to providing you with the best possible care.
There are many reasons to pursue surgical intervention for your face and eyes, such as: Facial trauma, tumors, eyelid abnormalities, drooping eyelids, anophthalmic sockets, ophthalmic Graves' disease, and other orbital issues. You may also desire a cosmetic procedure to enhance or restore a desired facial appearance. These procedures may include blepharoplasty, brow lift, forehead lift, eyelid procedures, facelift, or rhinoplasty.

Dr. Nunery is a distinguished lecturer on various ophthalmic plastic surgery-related topics. He is the author of numerous published articles and textbooks on such subjects as ophthalmic Graves' disease, aesthetic results after enucleation surgery, the importance of early volume replacement in reconstruction of congenital anophthalmia, and new approaches in repairing mid-facial bony trauma. He was the first to describe various subtypes of ophthalmic Graves' disease, as well as the results of decompression surgery on these subtypes. He was also among the first to describe the association of cigarette smoking and Graves' disease, and continues to actively research the effects of thyroid-related disease on the eyes.
Dr. Nunery has lectured internationally in Canada and South Africa, and has been the visiting professor at numerous universities, including Harvard, Yale, Laval University, and UCLA. He has served as program director, secretary, treasurer, and president of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and president of the Indianapolis Ophthalmological Society.
