And it's all accessible without having to invade tissue or damage the organism. It's a beautiful subject and an important organ for clinical reasons. A lot of diseases can be treated, but still result in a high incidence of blindness." |
Dr. James Jumblatt considered himself a classical biochemist, until his wife, Dr. Marcia Jumblatt, lured him into the eye field. Now they often collaborate on research projects, often approaching a problem from different, but complementary analyses.
Although he has previously worked on glaucoma, neurocontrol and intraocular pressure, Dr. Jumblatt now devotes his attention on new treatments for dry eye diseases, a family of diseases which impact a great number of Americans each year. Dr. Jumblatt's lab works to develop ways to enhance the components of tear film for added stability.
